Assassin’s Creed Unity is a game that has pushed the PS4 and Xbox One to their limits. The game was released in 2014 and featured some of the best graphics, especially on PC. And today, after seven full years, the game remains a graphically impressive game on PC in 8K and with Reshade Ray Tracing.
Now, the YouTuber has cleverly hid the game’s LOD issues. In case you didn’t know, the game changes the LOD models of its NPCs right in front of view. Additionally, its distant textures appear blurry due to their low LOD values. There was a LOD fix mod for this, but apparently it works best when taking screenshots (not while playing).
YouTube’s “Beyond The Hype” shared the following video with a realistic ray tracing and 8K reshade mod. The end result is truly amazing and makes Unity look just as good as most modern games.
Other than those issues, however, Assassin’s Creed Unity looks awesome. Its pre-baked lighting is some of the best I have ever seen, and its global illumination solution was amazing. Ironically, the series was never able to match these visuals once it started using a fully dynamic lighting system. Yes, we had a more dynamic lighting / weather system, but the visual presentation took a big hit with this decision. Hell, the following video is more next-gen than Valhalla himself.
