Square Enix has announced that it is offering “Pixel Remasters” from Final Fantasy I, II, III, IV, V, and VI. They’re coming to PC via Steam, Android, and iOS devices.
“The pixel remaster series brings all of the magic of the originals combined with quality of life improvements while remaining true to the retro design of these masterpieces,” the company said.
Fans can expect to enjoy a host of updates, including redesigned 2D pixel characters and background graphics, featuring pixel designs of iconic Kazuko Shibuya characters. They also promise “beautifully rearranged soundtracks” that the original composer, Nobuo Uematsu, oversees.
Players can also expect “improved gameplay, including a controller and touch controls, a modernized user interface, automatic combat options, and more.” In addition, the remasters will include extras like the bestiary, an art gallery, a music player, and the ability to save at any time.

Those who pre-buy Final Fantasy I, II or III on Steam will receive two exclusive wallpapers, three music tracks and a 20% discount for each title. Remasters of the first three games will launch on July 27, 2021.
