Well, here is a very different Lego set. There are no Star Wars characters or jokes in Lego Builder’s Journey, which premiered on Saturday’s Wholesome Games Direct. Watch the trailer above to see what I mean.
Sounds … really nice, doesn’t it? Maybe I’m just a fan of soft glow lighting, but here I’m digging into the aesthetic of regular Lego bricks rendered with so much love. Guess what: he has ray tracing. No wonder he looks so gorgeous.
According to Steam page, Lego Builder’s Journey is “a geometric, atmospheric puzzle game that sometimes asks us to follow directions … and sometimes break the rules.” Basically each stage is a tiny Lego diorama, and you’re tasked with dropping a few pieces of brick in the right place to do it from side to side.
Lego Builder’s Journey actually released on mobile in 2020, but it’ll be out on PC and Nintendo Switch on June 22. It was pretty well received last year, in fact, winning the title of Mobile Game of the Year. Golden joysticks. It sounds like the kind of puzzle game that calms the brain rather than breaking it, which is fine for me.
Another plus: you can’t step on those Lego pieces and imprint their little hellish brick shapes in your foot.
