Microsoft has unveiled the next batch of games intended for Xbox Game Pass next, and the good news is that all eight upcoming additions are coming to PC, not just console. The other good news is that there are some real treats in the upcoming mix.
In just days, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is coming to both PC Game Pass and the console version, Microsoft revealed in a blog post. Given that it’s one of the best RPGs out there, it’s an exciting addition to the Game Pass lineup, as it includes the single-player base games of Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, plus over 40 pieces of downloadable content from all three games. The Legendary Edition has been polished through remastering and optimization for 4K Ultra HD, so Commander Shepard’s adventures in space should also look pretty good.
On the same date, Mobius Digital’s time-looping space adventure Outer Wilds is also joining Xbox Game Pass. The game puts you in the space boots of a new space program recruit exploring the wild and mysterious reaches of the universe, while being stuck in a time loop that you must break free from. It was very warmly received by critics and winner of the BAFTA 2020 Best Game category, so it’s well worth a whirl.
On January 13, Spelunky 2 also joins the offerings. The 2020 2D roguelike platformer follows 2008’s Spelunky and lets you tackle the depths of randomly generated caves and ruins in your hunt for treasure – and the truth behind Ana’s people’s disappearance.
Others heading to Game Pass later this month are a preview of four-player co-op FPS game The Anacrusis (January 13) and chaotic multiplayer game Embr (January 6). Starting today, you can also play 2.5D side-scrolling puzzle platformer The Pedestrian, atmospheric action-adventure game Olija, and hand-drawn puzzler Gorogoa.
