Continue to publish video game adaptations of Reki Kawahara’s popular Sword Art Online multimedia franchise, Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed plans to release Sword Art Online Last Memory Next year. To be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and Windows PC, this will continue the video game canon down a different path to the original light novel and anime works.
Somewhat based on the story of Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of the Underworld, players will once again follow Kirito and his friends as they face the threat posed by the Underworld War and the Final Stress Test. The gate to the Dark Territory opens, ready to unleash its terror on the Human Realm. But though it might seem familiar at first, a mysterious dark knight named Dorothy arrives with a mission for Kirito and his friends – setting them on a different course.
As you’d expect, players can expect to see many characters from Sword Art Online’s grand timeline make an appearance, perhaps for the last time, with Sword Art Online Last Memory to be billed as “the culmination of the Sword Art Online series of games.”
