Nintendo’s Pikmin mobile game reconfirmed for 2021 launch

Earlier this year, Nintendo and Niantic announced that a Pikmin AR mobile game was in development, with other franchises to follow. Niantic is of course the developer of Pokémon GO, which continues to connect fans around the world. Little information was available on the mysterious Pikmin mobile game until a beta was released a week later in Singapore, which included many promising features. In Nintendo’s latest financial report, the company reconfirmed that the Pikmin mobile game will launch sometime in 2021. Here’s what the report has to say about the upcoming title:

In our mobile business, we will focus on continuing to operate the applications we have released to date, as well as the application with Pikmin of Niantic which is scheduled for the second half of 2021, and work on ways to encourage more consumers to continue to take advantage of these apps.

From what we know so far, Pikmin for mobile will see you growing “Pikmin Seedlings”, similar to Pokémon GOthe egg hatch mechanic. These seedlings will then grow into a full-sized Pikmin as they roam around to collect “step energy” and then you can send them on various expeditions. Hopefully more information will arrive in the near future, but we’ll have to wait and see for now.

Pikmin for mobile is definitely slated for launch in 2021. Are you looking forward to playing another collaboration with Niantic?
