Otoko Cross: Pretty Boys Mahjong Solitaire is a puzzle game with transvestites

Eastasiasoft has just revealed itself Otoko Cross: Pretty Boys Mahjong Solitaire.

We are used to seeing games sexualizing female characters in video games. Look no further than sooner grave robber games or japanese fighting games like Dead or alive. Oh and remember Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball?

However, we are less used to men receiving similar treatment. And to be sure, it’s not exactly a 1:1 comparison, since Otoko Cross is much less hyper-sexualized. Either way, today we bring you a unique puzzle game featuring a cast of male transvestites celebrating Japan’s Otokonoko subculture.

Since we have no experience with otokonoko, we’ll leave it to Eastasiasoft to explain:

In Japan, otokonoko cross-dressing has become a common theme not only in anime and manga, but also in good life cafes and cosplay events. The term “otokonoko” is a Japanese pun and refers to men with distinctly feminine manners and appearance, often cross-dressed for charming effect.

Eastasiasoft says it “took great care to portray this theme with passion and authenticity, leveraging Japanese development partnerships, outsourcing fresh art, and bringing in male voices that accurately reflect what the fans appreciate the otokonoko style”.

Players can expect 60 unique tile layouts. The tiles are shuffled each session for random patterns. You can also unlock new outfits by clearing the tiles. Outfits are added to the Dressing Room mode for casual viewing.

Otoko Cross: Pretty Boys Mahjong Solitaire will launch first on PC via Steam. Further details on additional platforms and further entries in this new IP will come later.
