Texas Chain Saw Massacre Video Game Features 3 Killers vs. Victims

Interactive Gun (Friday the 13th: the game) brings us an update on their upcoming The Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game today, with a look at the game’s unique match structure.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre The game will be asymmetrical multiplayer, but the developers explain today that it will feature a franchise-specific “3v4” match structure.

Today’s new update reveals, “Gun Interactive, and the groundbreaking success Friday 13: The Game, helped pave the way for Asymmetrical Horror video game experiences. But the 1 v Many structure made perfect sense there, Jason v Counselors. The Gun team has always taken a “franchise first” approach to the titles we work on, with every design decision being made with this franchise in mind. Simply say, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is more than Leatherface, and the asymmetrical structure should reflect that.”

Wes Keltner, CEO/President of Gun Interactive, explains, “We never want to make the same game twice. Either you innovate or you imitate, and I don’t have to tell you which one makes a better game. Everyone at Gun prefers to innovate and advance the genre. How do you do that? Well, as far as the design of Texas we knew 3vs4 was different. All mechanics and features are built around this fundamental overhaul of asymmetrical multiplayer. Also, when you watch the 1974 film, you’ll notice there’s a whole family to deal with, not just Leatherface. So it seemed natural to have three killers chasing their victims..”

Keltner continues:We love a good challenge, and there’s huge amounts of balance needed to make three killers feel and play unique, while still providing exciting gameplay.. When you have three killers and four victims running around a game space, you spend a lot of time on level design. Creating shadows and objects to hide behind, mixes open rooms to move slowly, while hallways become natural choke points for players to move quickly through to find the next hiding place. With three killers chasing you, it can be overwhelming. It was also our responsibility to ensure that each level created thrilling moments filled with dread, but enough places to take a reprieve and take your next step.

As we learned recently, Kane Hoder will be playing Leatherface in the game, and we can expect other characters from the franchise alongside BRAND NEW family members.
