Video game gets PS5 upgrade for some reason

Karen Gillan in 4K? I listen…

The first Jumanji movie is a classic. The next two Jumanji movies weren’t… so classic. They seemed to rely on the big names of Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black for their success. The most recent movie has a related game called Jumanji: The Video Game.

Jumanji: The Video Game was released in November 2019. It is a simple action / adventure game, in which you can play as the avatars inspired by the movies. Ruby Roundhouse, Xander “Smolder” Bravestone, Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, and Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon, all have different abilities that they can use to navigate different areas.

I say “different areas”, but the game only has four levels. The entire game can be completed in an hour, which is quite disappointing for a $ 35 game. Jumanji: Video Game is getting an ‘enhanced edition’ on PS5, but finishes like 120fps and 4K resolution are hard to boast about when the base game can’t justify itself as a game worth your money.

The Enhanced Edition is only released on PS5, but what’s even more troubling is that there is no mention that owners of the game on PS4 are getting the upgrade for free. If you want to relive this game (for whatever reason) in 4K, you may need to purchase it. However, this remains to be clarified.

Jumanji: The Video Game is out now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, but the Enhanced Edition will only be available on PS5. It will be released on October 22.
