What is Death Stranding About?
Death Stranding follows a man named Sam Bridges, who works as a “porter” in an apocalyptic version of the United States. Following a mass extinction event called “Death Stranding”, Sam struggles to move important objects back and forth across the shattered land.
The holder Death Stranding caused bizarre changes to the world, including the appearance of invisible creatures known as “Beached Things” or “BTs”, who hail from an area called the “Beach”. This place is believed to be linked to near-death or mid-life-death experiences. BTs spawn from corpses, consuming human beings as they decompose, causing a massive explosion known as a “vacuum”.
This left the entirety of what was once the United States in shambles, as every time someone was consumed by a BT leaves behind a potential time bomb the scale of a nuclear warhead.
In addition to this mass of terrifying effects, the Death Stranding had on humanity, there is also “Timefall”, or the rain that ages the things it touches. In a world where almost everything is dangerous, no one is connected anymore.

Although Sam has long since left BRIDGES for a myriad of reasons, Bridget begs Sam to return in an effort to help reform America by making connections across the country. Sam is tasked with taking a “Bridge Baby”, or a “BB”, which can detect the presence of BT, to complete this mission, and a series of other delivery orders, through the verdant lands that once made up the States -United. as we knew.

Without spoiling anything more, Sam begins to understand new truths about the Bridge Babies and what needs to be done to truly unite America again.
