Australian developer Witch Beam Games has announced that its refrigerated unboxing puzzle game Unpacking sold over 100,000 units in its first ten days of sale.
The game originally launched last month, and if you’re unfamiliar with it, it’s well worth your time. You play through the different stages of a particular character’s life and help unbox their possessions in each of their homes over the years. The light puzzle element tries to put everything in its place (roughly) in the manner of Marie Kondo.
Despite the simple premise, the game hides a wonderful storytelling, as you learn clues about the life of the main character. You’ll discover new surprises and twists and turns, despite the fact that you never see who you’re playing for. You are also free to interpret the story as you wish, as it is not told to you explicitly. All of this, plus a smooth soundtrack, lets you experience the game at your own pace.
In a short but nice blog post marking the milestone, the team thanked their fans for all the support they had received since launch. Witch Beam Games has also put together a new trailer for the game, which you can see below. Unpacking is available now on Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It is also available through Xbox Game Pass.
